Choices
There is a story about twin brothers, one was a ruined bum, a drunkard, the other was happy and successful. Somebody asked the drunkard how he came to be where he was, and his answer, "I'm where I am today because my father was a drunk." He is steering his life like his father.
The successful brother was asked the same question. How did you come to be where you are? His answer, "I'm where I am today because my father was a drunk." He is steering his life not like his father.
Same DNA, same circumstances, different outcomes. Choices.
Victor Frankel, who survived a Nazi concentration camp, wrote: "Everything can be taken from a man but one thing, the last of the human freedoms, to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances."
