Reiki focuses on elevating life force energy to decrease negative stress or pain and to increase health, vigor, and well-being. The practice of Reiki is also known as healing hands or healing palms because the master or practitioner’s hands find and dissipate blockages in a body’s energy field. Reiki sessions are soothing and pleasant. Reiki provides comfort and relief for various levels of distress from mild aches to chronic illness.
Reiki is categorized as a non-invasive alternative or supplemental medical treatment. Reiki is used in countries around the globe to augment both traditional and holistic medical procedures. Unlike therapeutic massage, acupuncture, or acupressure, Reiki does not involve direct physical manipulation. The practitioner’s healing hands remain suspended or are lightly placed on the body to attune with and balance universal energy fields.
Note: Prana is the Sanskrit word for the cosmic energy that is known in Japan and Ki and in China as Chi. The Pranic energy healing process does not involve physical touching and is self-administered but is otherwise similar to Reiki energy healing.

Stress, tension, illness, trauma, and pain are expressed in the body and the body’s energy fields. Life force energy is arranged in paths (meridians) and clusters (chakras) throughout the body. The outer edge of the body’s energy field (aura) interacts with universal energy. Using Reiki methods, the practitioner’s hands are attuned to the level of energy circulating in these paths, clusters and interactions. When blockages are found, the practitioner delivers energy to elevate or balance energy flow. Increased energy flow provides relief and supports healing of the underlying issue, whether it is physical, emotional, or spiritual.
